Internal Scholarships at CUI Abbottabad for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025

1.COMSATS Abbottabad Merit Scholarships (CAMS):

COMSATS Abbottabad Merit Scholarship (CAMS) is initially for first semester students based on the marks in their prior qualification. The following programs are included:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Development Studies
  2. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences
  3. Bachelor of Science in Psychology
  4. Bachelor of Science in Economics
  5. Bachelor of Science in Geology
  6. Bachelor of Science in Geophysics
  7. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
  8. Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology
  9. Bachelor of Science in Microbiology

Fee waiver under Categories

CAT-A   .……………………… 75 % Tuition fee waiver

CAT-B   ………………………..50 % Tuition fee waiver

CAT-C   ………………………..25 % Tuition fee waiver

At the time of Admission

Eligibility criteria for CAT-A   ………………. ≥ 70 % marks in Intermediate or Equivalent

Eligibility criteria for CAT-B   ………………. ≥ 65 % to < 70% marks in Intermediate or Equivalent

Eligibility criteria for CAT-C ………………… ≥ 60 % to <65% marks in Intermediate or Equivalent

  • The percentage of Intermediate will be calculated as per the merit calculation rules of CUI where the result is awaited etc.
  • Scholarship would be awarded provisionally after the completion of admission requirements by the Incharge Student Affairs.
  • Incharge Student Affairs will share the verified list of CAMS awardees with Incharge Student Development Center soon after the completion of Admission process and within the first three weeks after the start of semester.
  • Readmitted students (after DI) in 1st semester will not be eligible for the said scholarship.
  • The CAMS scholarships will be merit based.
  • The scholarship categories for above mentioned programs would be mentioned in the merit list so that the potential candidates can plan their admission in time.
  • The candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria as per the admission policy of CUI for these programs.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

In Subsequent Semesters:

Students will be awarded CAMS scholarship as per the following criteria.

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.3 will be awarded CAT-A   .…………….. 75 % Tuition fee waiver

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.0 and < 3.3 will be awarded CAT-B  …….50 % Tuition fee waiver

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 2.7 and < 3.0 will be awarded CAT-C ……..25 % Tuition fee waiver

  • In subsequent semesters, the list of scholarships will be prepared afresh based on the CGPA of the previous semester.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/Absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.
  • In subsequent semesters readmitted student will also be included in the competition of scholarship in the respective semester after fulfilling the required conditions of the scholarship.
  • These students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.
  • The said scholarship will not be available for any student beyond the normal duration of the program.
  • The student must have registered full load of semester, and have appeared in final exam.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

 

2.Academic Excellence Scholarship:

Academic Excellence Scholarship is for first semester students based on the marks in Intermediate or Equivalent in their prior qualification. The following programs are included:

1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Electronics Engineering (EEE)

2. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE)

Fee waiver under Categories

At the time of Admission

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.3 and < 3.5 will be awarded CAT-B  …  30%Tuition fee waiver

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.0 and < 3.3 will be awarded CAT-C ….. 20% Tuition fee waiver

  • In subsequent semesters, the list of scholarships will be prepared afresh based on the CGPA of the previous semester.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.
  • In subsequent semesters readmitted student will also be included in the competition of scholarship in the respective semester after fulfilling the required conditions of the scholarship.
  • These students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.

3. Shining Star Scholarship:

Shining Star Scholarship is for first semester students based on the Grade Point (GP) Score in their prior qualification. The following programs are included:

  4. Bachelor of Science in Business Data Analytics
  5. Bachelor of Science in English
  6. Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy

  9. Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology
  10. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Data Science

Students will be awarded Shining star scholarship as per the following criteria.

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.9 will be awarded CAT-A   .…………… Rs. 40,000 Tuition fee waiver

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.85 and < 3.9 will be awarded CAT-B  … Rs. 30,000 Tuition fee waiver

Students obtaining CGPA of >= 3.8 and < 3.85 will be awarded CAT-C …..Rs. 20,000 Tuition fee waiver

  • In subsequent semesters, the list of scholarships will be prepared afresh based on the CGPA of the previous semester.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.

4.Merit Based Scholarship for MS and MBA:

MS and MBA students will be considered for categories based scholarship on seeking successful admission in all MS and MBA programs.

  • Lists for first semester will be prepared by Departmental Graduate Coordinators and sent to Graduate Office.
  • Scholarship would be awarded provisionally after the completion of admission requirements. Incharge Graduate Office will share the verified list of these awardees with Incharge Student Development Center soon after the completion of Admission process and within the first three weeks after the start of semester.
  • This scholarship will be merit based.
  • The candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria as per the admission policy of CUI for these programs.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

In Subsequent Semesters:

The above mentioned scholarship is subject to the following conditions.

  • These awardees will maintain following CGPA for continuation of the scholarship in the subsequent semester.

  • These awardees will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.
  • The above scholarship is valid and available for normal duration of their graduate degree.
  • The awardees must maintain the CGPA requirement for the continuation of the said scholarship.
  • The student must have registered full load of semester, and have appeared in final exam.
  • If student fails to maintain the required CGPA in the previous semester, the said scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and will be resumed on maintaining the required CGPA.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/Absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.
  • In subsequent semesters readmitted student will also be included in the competition of scholarship in the respective semester after fulfilling the required conditions of the scholarship.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.
  • These students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.

5. Haroon Rashid Scholarship for students attaining 4 GPA:

Students (belonging to all undergraduate programs of 2nd semester and onwards) securing 4.00 GPA in the previous semester will be awarded with 75% tuition fee waiver in recognition of their hard work.

The above mentioned scholarship will be subject to the following conditions.

  • In subsequent semesters, the students must secure 4.00 GPA to maintain the award.
  • The above scholarship will not be available for any student beyond the normal duration of the program.
  • It will be awarded to students of undergraduate programs only.
  • If student fails to maintain the required GPA in the previous semester, the said scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and will be resumed on maintaining the required GPA.
  • These students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.
  • The student must have registered full load of semester, and have appeared in final exam.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

6.CUI Need Based Scholarship:

Financial assistance will be provided to extremely needy students, whose total household income is less than Rs. 50,000. The Student development Center in collaboration with the Campus Scholarship Evaluation Committee, shall interview and decide the eligibility of such needy students. If the students and their family are not able to support their education, or due to any sudden demise of parent, illness of student/ parent, unforeseen circumstances during studies, which cause hindrance in his/her studies. Then the following concession will be provided to such students:

Criteria for CUI Need Based Scholarship:

Percentage in HSSC

(If enrolled in 1st semester)

 Concession in tuition fees CGPA requirement at time of application
≥ 70% Determined by the committee 3.0/ 4.0

Above concessions for this scholarship will be awarded based on the following conditions:

  • The concessions mentioned will be admissible to the students of all undergraduate programs/departments/intakes in the first semester as well as the existing students.
  • The above scholarship will only be valid and available for the normal duration of their undergraduate degree.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

In Subsequent Semesters.

  • Minimum CGPA required for the said scholarship is 3/4.0.
  • If student fails to maintain the required CGPA= 3/4.0 in the previous semester, the said scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and will be resumed on maintaining the required CGPA.
  • The students must take regular course load during the semesters and have appeared in final exam.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/Absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.
  • The said scholarship will not be available for any student beyond normal duration of degree program.
  • The Campus scholarship evaluation committee will determine the need and propose the amount of the financial assistance to each student.

7. Scholarships for the students of Dhamtor including adjoining areas (Thai,Maira Gijra, Takia and Dottar):

CUI Abbottabad has acquired approx. 600 canal land in Dhamtor for the establishment of its permanent campus. Under the corporate social responsibility of CUI Abbottabad, as well as to inculcate the sense of ownership among the people for the University being developed there, scholarships will be admissible for the students who want to pursue their higher education at CUI Abbottabad belonging to Dhamtor including adjoining areas (Thai, Maira Gijra, Takia and Dottar)

At time of admission:

The applicant has to mention his/her interest for availing this scholarship opportunity at the time of admission.  The candidate must provide residential evidence/ domicile of the mentioned localities (Thai, Maira Gijra, Takia and Dottar) that has been issued by a relevant Governmental body.

The applicant must meet following criteria to compete for the scholarship:

SSC or Equivalent:               Marks obtained 70% or above

HSSC or Equivalent             Marks obtained 60% or above

Due to limited number of scholarships, candidates who secure five top Grade points in the merit list (prepared for this scholarship) will be offered the scholarship opportunity (or in the onward GP merit list, if a candidate(s) in the upper GP merit list does not join).

  • The applicants will be required to fulfil the merit criteria of the program applied for, and basic admission eligibility.
  • Verification will be done by the Student Development Center, based on the domicile of the individuals that they belong to the area mentioned above.
  • The assistance will be admissible to these students in the first semester and may continue in subsequent semesters if the specified CGPA is maintained.
  • The assistance will only be applicable for the undergraduate students.
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course or semester/Absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions for the said scholarship.
  • These students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.
  • The assistance will be valid and available only for the regular duration of their undergraduate degree.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.
  • The students must take regular course load during the semesters.

8. Special Scholarship of backward areas:

10 seats are allocated for backward area students, especially students of Gilgit Baltistan and backward areas of Hazara Division (District Kala Dhaka, Battagram, Kohistan and Upper Tanawal areas (Tehsil Darband)). 50 % tuition fee waiver will be given to the students selected under this scholarship. At the time of admission, minimum eligibility is 50% marks in Intermediate.

Available for following undergraduate programs only:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences
  2. Bachelor of Science in Geology
  3. Bachelor of Science in Economics
  4. Bachelor of Science in Development Studies

In Subsequent Semesters.

  • These awardees will maintain Minimum of 2.50 CGPA for continuation of the scholarship in the subsequent semester.
  • These awardees will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time.
  • The above scholarship is valid and available for normal duration of their undergraduate degree.
  • The student must have registered normal/regular load of class, and have appeared in final exam.
  • The awardees must maintain the CGPA requirement for the continuation of the said scholarship.
  • If student fails to maintain the required CGPA in the previous semester, the said scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and will be resumed on maintaining the required CGPA.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.

 

9. Sibling Concession:

  • Sibling concession @ Rs.16000/- will be awarded to students, if one or more siblings studying in undergraduate programs are enrolled in CUI System, having more than 2 CGPA.
  • Sibling Concession form must be submitted in scholarships office to avail the concession.
  • The sibling concession will be awarded in parallel with any other internal scholarship if the total fee concession/ waiver does not exceed the tuition fee amount.
  • The concession will only be admissible for normal duration of the undergraduate degree program.

10. Fee Concession for Army Wards:

The students whose parent(s) are serving, retired or deceased from Pakistan Army are eligible for a fee waiver in each semester. The first semester students apply for this waiver after submitting the required documents and requisite form for Amry wards. The amount of waiver I equally divided among the number of applicants in the first semester (starting year). This waiver is only for CUI Abbottabad campus students. The documents are submitted one time only.

General Conditions:

  • In undergraduate programs the full load of courses will be considered as normal/regular load of class (i.e. the number of courses studied by regular student in a class).
  • A student freezing/withdrawal/dropping/failing a course/Absent (i.e. in previous semester) the scholarship will be stopped for the current semester and will be resumed in the next semester after fulfilling the required conditions of the scholarship.
  • In graduate programs for first 02 semesters minimum 03 courses (09 credit hours) shall be registered & in 3rd & 4th semester minimum 02 courses or 01 course of thesis (i.e. 06 credit hours) shall be registered.
  • Only one internal scholarship at a time will be applicable, except sibling concession.
  • The student providing consent for availing one internal scholarship out of available two internal scholarships, will not be reverted to other internal scholarship in any case.
  • Students on scholarship cannot leave campus/studies without completing the degree. In case of leaving without completion of degree, full fee is applicable for all semesters for which scholarship is awarded under all circumstances including DI/Transfer of program cases. The scholarship will be cancelled and the student will be required to return/pay awarded amount in full. This condition is applicable to previous intake batches as well.
  • The scholarship awarded will not be refunded to the students.
  • All scholarships will be processed in Student Development Center at CUI Abbottabad.
  • CUI Abbottabad reserves the right to modify or cancel the scholarship, along with its associated conditions, at its discretion at any time.
