One of the focus areas of our BS computer engineering program is Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. AI aims at making machines do intelligent tasks, which are commonly associated with human beings. The computer engineering curriculum will provide strong AI foundation to students based on computer science and engineering as well as the mathematics behind it. The students, through multiple courses and complex engineering projects, will develop skills in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, as well as real-world deployment of AI applications on resource constrained IoT edge devices. The roles in which our computer engineering graduates with AI as a focus area can be hired include Machine Learning Engineer and Robotics Engineer.

Communication Networks and Information Security is a dynamic field in Computer Engineering that ensures the safety of digital communication and data. We focus on understanding the behavior and use of today’s Internet and exploring new technology and designs for tomorrow’s networks. We work around advanced related technologies, such as blockchain, cryptography and intrusion detection systems, securing networks and safeguarding sensitive information; in BS/MS level through taught courses and research/development projects. This field empowers trust and resilience in the digital world. With the rapid evolution of cyberattacks, experts in Networks and Information Security play a pivotal role in defending critical systems and shaping the future of secure computing.

Then we have the exciting areas of Databases and App Development where the focus is on advancing knowledge, techniques, and solutions in the fields of data management and application development. We have a collaborative environment where students, and faculty work together to explore innovative ways to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge applications backed by robust database systems, due to increasing reliance on data-driven decision-making and the rapid evolution of mobile, web, and cloud-based applications. Our mission is to equip students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills necessary to address both foundational and applied challenges in these domains. The potential areas of work include but are not limited to design and optimization of relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, data warehousing, and data mining, Cloud-based and distributed database systems, Development of mobile, web, and desktop applications, Full-stack development, including front-end and back-end integration, leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and blockchain in app development, exploring the intersection of databases and artificial intelligence.

Computer Engineering program also covers the important areas of modern technology of Integrated circuits (IC) Design, Embedded systems, and the Internet of Things. This program is designed to offer fundamental knowledge along with a very broad and very much required skill set to address real-life problems. It will enable the students to use industrial tools to create and enhance both the digital and the analog circuits. The Embedded Systems track focuses on developing practical and efficient hardware-software implementations for various applications in the fields such as robotics, automotive, and consumer electronics. To the students who have an interest in IoT, the curriculum is designed to help in developing smart, connected objects that solve issues in facets like medical, urban, and industrial sectors.
