Ph.D. Geophysics
Program Description
A Ph.D. in Geophysics is a doctoral degree program that focuses on the study of the Earth’s physical properties and processes using a combination of physics, mathematics, and geology. PhD Geophysics is offered by the Department of Earth Sciences following Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines. The duration of PhD program is between 3 years to 7 years. After 5 years the student must apply for an extension every semester. Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Department of Earth Sciences provides you with the knowledge, skills, and expertise to conduct advanced research in the field of mineral, groundwater, shallow/deep subsurface structure exploration and modeling, hydrogeophysics, aquifer modeling, petroleum prospecting, hydrocarbon estimation etc. The highly qualified faculty of 10 PhDs and state of the art laboratories are the major strength of the department. Students can opt for research in any of major areas of Geophysics including Groundwater Modeling and Exploration, Mineral Prospecting, Hydrology, Hydrogeophysics, Hydrogeochemistry, Water Quality and Quantity evaluation, Natural Hazard Modeling, Seismic Interpretation, Hydrocarbon Estimation and Prospecting. The set of knowledge and skills provided by our department will make the student, best choice for Oil and Gas national and international companies, Atomic Energy Commission, Minerals and Mines sector, Tunnels and Road construction firms, Government Agencies, Geological Survey of Pakistan, Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, International Water Management Institute Pakistan and Different ANGO’s.
