Mathematics is an exciting and challenging subject which that continues to develop at a rapid rate across many research areas in science and engineering. It has natural elegance and beauty. Mathematicians are making a lasting contribution to the sciences by developing models and solution methods in diverse fields such as physics, engineering, R&D organizations, computer sciences, machine learning & data sciences, medicine, management, psychology, and social sciences. The generic nature of mathematics means that almost all industries require graduates with analytical and quantitative skills in mathematics.

The Department of Mathematics is functional in seven campuses of CUI. It aims to pursue excellence in Mathematics through teaching and research. It offers BS, MS, and Ph.D programs with specializations in pure, applied, and computational mathematics and provides services to the university by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. It enables the students to expand their knowledge of mathematics and its multi-disciplinary applications through intensive coursework, an excellent research environment, and expert supervision by well-qualified PhD faculty and distinguished professors of national and international repute. Several national and international level conferences and workshops in various disciplines of mathematics are hosted by the department. It also provides several international mobility opportunities for the students through collaboration with international partners and universities and also offers scholarships for brilliant students who have the passion for excelling careers in mathematics.
