Pharm.D Program Objectives
The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus is committed to preparing graduates with the capacity, up-to-date knowledge, strong ethical values, behavior, communication, writing, and social skills necessary to excel in diverse career paths within the pharmacy field. Our Pharm.D program is designed with the following objectives, in line with the standards set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pharmacy Council of Pakistan:
1. To prepare graduates for roles in pharmaceutical care within health systems and community environments, emphasizing the importance of appropriate medication usage, patient safety, and the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
2. To equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on understanding quality systems, regulatory requirements, and best practices in drug manufacturing, quality control, and distribution.
3. To instill strong ethical values and professional behavior in graduates, emphasizing integrity, empathy, and respect for patient autonomy and confidentiality. Graduates will demonstrate ethical decision-making and adhere to professional standards in all aspects of pharmacy practice.
4. To cultivate social skills and promote interdisciplinary collaboration among graduates, enabling them to work effectively as part of healthcare teams and engage with diverse populations.

Pharm.D Program Learning Outcomes:
After completion, students are expected to have the following skills.
• Possess fundamental knowledge and skills essential to the field of pharmacy.
• Demonstrate understanding of health care and medication system.
• Demonstrate a broad understanding of key areas in pharmaceutical sciences including Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy.
• Develop, integrate and apply fundamental scientific knowledge to analyze literature, elucidate drug mechanism, address therapeutic challenges, and contribute to population health and patient centered care.
• Actively engage as a valued healthcare team member demonstrating mutual respect, understanding and shared values to meet patient care needs.
• Establish a strong academic foundation in drug discovery, drug delivery, evaluation, and development with specialized training in research labs.
• Emphasize experimental education to bridge coursework with real world applications.
