Pakistan Learning Festival was held on 12-13 March 2022 at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus.

The event was with the active collaboration of Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (I.T.A) and District Government Abbottabad. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for Information Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif inaugurated the event.

On the occasion, he said that constructive and creative activities would serve as a beacon in the education and training of our new generation. He added that advancement in contemporary education and venturing into the new field of modern-day technology is vital to achieving a respectable position among the comity of nations. He urged the students to get themselves involved in innovative fields as it would usher the country into a new phase of development and prosperity.

Director COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus Merit. Prof. Imtiaz Ali Khan in his welcome address stated that according to the world universities ranking COMSATS University is the top higher education institution of Pakistan, during a short period of time the institution not only achieved top position in Pakistan but also gained a good position in the world university ranking. He expresses that Abbottabad is a landmark in the country in terms of education and seems to be able to maintain its individuality.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Tariq Salam Marwat that his small idea of giving a fresh start to educational activities in Abbottabad materialized with the cooperation of educational institutions. He hoped that Pakistan Learning Festival would be celebrated in Abbottabad as a regular annual feature. The festival held more than 50 learning sessions. District Police Officer Zahoor Babar Afridi, Dr. Abdul Samad, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Muhammad Hassan Ahsan, Baela Raza Jamil, CEO of ITA, also spoke on the occasion.

Some of the key highlights of the festival included the Kitab Gari, a modified rickshaw library or festival on wheels by ITA from Lahore, and the district government’s initiative Books on Wheels that was displayed for all and held engaging sessions with children to help them develop a love for reading, literature and arts and crafts, he added.

The event was sponsored by The Bank of Punjab, Oxford University Press and partners of the festival included Nikhra Abbottabad, Directorate of Youth Affairs, Water and Sanitation Service Abbottabad, Galiyat Development Authority, KITE, Forestry, and the Archaeology and Museums Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had sponsored the event.

A large number of students, educationists, poets, writers, from various educational institutions of the country, and Journalists attended the festival. The wildlife department, civil defense, youth affairs, traffic police, and Rescue 112 also set up stalls.
