National Rehmat-Ul-Lil Almeen Celebrations 1445 AH

Seerah (النبی صلی الله علیه وسلم) Society, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus has organized the Seerat Conference event on Friday, October 06, 2023 at 10:00 to 13:00 hours in Main Auditorium under National Rehmat-Ul-Lil Almeen Celebrations 1445 AH.

Eminent Scholar Professor Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Rector GIFT University, Gujranwala was the honorable guest speaker. The topic of the talk was “Seerat ul Nabi صلی الله علیه وسلم and the Entrepreneurial Mindset: خود شناسی، خدا شناسی، اور مقصد حیات کی جانب سفر “. The event was part of the instructions by the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Government of Pakistan, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

A large number of Faculty members, students, and other employees of the campus attended the event. The event started with the recitation from Holy Quran followed by Naat e Rasool صلی الله علیه وسلم. Convener of the Seerah Society COMSATS University Abbottabad Campus, Dr. Jamil Anwar introduced the objectives of Seerah Society and emphasized that the main objective of the society is to make the life of Prophet Muhammad صلی الله علیه وسلم relevant to the daily lives of people in the contemporary world. For that purpose such events and interactions with eminent scholars are necessary to reinforce the teachings and practices of the Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم. He thanked the Campus Director, efforts of Seerah صلی الله علیه وسلم Society team, students, and all administrative staff for their patronage and support for organizing this event.

Professor Dr. Shahid Qureshi enlightened the audience with his personal discovery of self, God, and the entrepreneurial mindset concept while interacting with academic people around the world. Narrating the behavior of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم, he created the link with the contemporary challenges being faced by Academia and the public. Professor Qureshi specifically mentioned the communication, negotiation, planning, strategy, benevolence, excellence, leadership, parenting, and teaching styles of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم and their relevance to the entrepreneurial mindset. These concepts were beautifully elaborated by reciting selected poetry from the great scholar Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal where the poet guided the Muslim Umma to follow the teaching of the Quran and Sunna for the economic and spiritual well-being of Umma. The speaker highlighted the drawbacks of the current education system and the contents of the curricula and emphasized making this relevant and productive in line with the Seerah of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم .  Quoting the references from the Quran, Sunnah, and contemporary best practices, he made his point very clear that for Ummah to be the world leader again, we must take guidance from the life of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم. Replying to the questions from the students he clarifies many doubts that are in the minds of youths and university students about the relevance of Seerah in the contemporary time period. He thanked COMSATS University Abbottabad Campus for organizing such an event and for inviting him to this worthy event. He promised to visit again for such cause when needed.

The Director COMSATS Abbottabad Campus, Professor Muhammad Maroof Shah in his concluded remarks thanked the guest speaker for his time and enlightening session. Professor Maroof Shah highlighted the concept of the finality of Prophethood (ختم نبوت) and explained that Islam as a religion and code of life encompasses all the aspects of human life for all times and the solution to all problems has been given in the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم. In this context, Muhammad صلی الله علیه وسلم is the last source of ultimate light and guidance. We have to seek guidance from the life of Prophet صلی الله علیه وسلم while keeping this concept in mind. He concluded that the only way to move forward and lead the world again is to follow the life of Muhammad صلی الله علیه وسلم in true letter and spirit. In the end, the Souvenir was presented to the honorable guest, and a group photo was taken with the faculty, students, and organizers of the event.
