Worthy Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar along with Principal seat officers visited CUI, Abbottabad Campus on August 09, 2023. A warm welcome and reception was given by the Director CUI, Abbottabad Campus, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maroof Shah, along with the Head of Departments and Section Heads.

First of all the guests from CUI were invited to the inauguration of the Faculty Development Workshop at the main auditorium. On the occasion, the Rector COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, stated that in higher education, the significance of effective teaching methodologies cannot be overstated. Dedicated teachers are committed to reshaping students’ perspectives and equipping them with the necessary skills to address real-world challenges. He mentioned that our religion provides educational teachings, and we must modernize our teaching methods to incorporate contemporary techniques, including Outcome-Based Education (OBE). We must train our students based on current market demands. Our university’s goal is to prepare individuals who aren’t just job seekers but rather job providers. The Director,  CUI, Abbottabad Campus Prof. Dr. Mohammad Maroof Shah said that CUI, Abbottabad Campus, has a history and tradition of arranging Faculty Development Workshops for the newly inducted faculty in each semester. The primary goal of the program is to transform into a dynamic resource that advocates for high-quality teaching approaches and empowers educators to act as agents of positive change within our society.

During the meeting with the Head of Departments and Section Heads, the Rector emphasized that students are the ambassadors of our university, and we must provide them with quality education and up-to-the-mark facilities.  In order to ensure sustainability, we have to increase our resources by opening more market-oriented programs so that more students may be facilitated, and the focus must be on quality teaching and quality research which may positively impact society. He further stated that promoting research activities and provision of a conducive work environment for the employees is one of the main objectives of the University.

The Rector, CU, along with other principal officers, also participated in the tree plantation activity with benevolent gestures.

At the end, the Rector along with his team from CUI, visited CUI Permanent Campus Dhamtour. He acknowledged the efforts of the construction of Academic Block 2. After the site visit, a brief presentation was given by Manager (P&D) in which all the guests from Principal Seat were present. During the presentation, the house was informed that the 3rd slab of the Academic Block is being poured while activities to pour the 4^th slab are in progress. It has also been informed that the land of 3 Kanals 16 Marlas for wide entrance as per master plan is also acquired in the year 22-23. In order to ensure parking and connectivity of the lands, the land has also been filled at the existing entrance. Plantation activity of around 1000 plants has also been carried out during the year. In addition, free skills Development courses for rural communities are also being carried out by COMSATS Community Development Unit (CCDU) at Dhamtour which enhances and ensures image building of the CUI Abbottabad. The rector acknowledged all the efforts being carried out for Dhamtour Campus, but he urged to enhance all the preliminary measures in order to start regular classes at Dhamtour campus for which he ensured his full support from Principal Seat.

Finally, Campus Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maroof Shah presented the shield to the honorable guest, Rector CUI, Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, and extended his gratitude for visiting the CUI, Abbottabad Campus.
