Hoping for a Greener City
On March, 2021 the Department of Environmental sciences successfully completed the event of Tree Plantation at our CUI Abbottabad campus. Trees are the only source of producing the oxygen in environment, they help to reduce the level of CO2 . As we all know that the whole world is facing the problem of global warming and to recover such problem planting trees has become one of the few important options.
The event began with the welcoming of Honorable guest Director COMSATS Prof Dr. Imtiaz Ali khan, actively participated in this tree plantation ceremony and enthusiastically interacted with students and faculty about environment, environmental problems, pollution etc. He also advised students and faculties to think differently for the society to make positive changes and to make improvement. He shared his past experiences with students that how he got success during such previous ceremonies and how one can help trees and plants to survive.
After the inspirational words of Director we all moved towards the place where tree plantation took place. The very first tree was planted by Director COMSATS Prof Dr. Imtiaz Ali khan in university premises and then HOD (Dr. Qaisar Mahmood TI),) and Chairman (Dr. Muhammad Irshad) of Environmental sciences also planted tree. Total number of tree planted by guest, faculties and students exceeded 50. It was also decided to regularly visit the plantation site to take care of trees.
Tree plantation at Lady Garden Abbottabad
Tree plantation event was organized at the Department of Environmental sciences at Lady Garden Abbottabad is an effort to make a green city. Due to COVID19 pandemic the number of participants was very limited with planting Araucaria an evergreen plant. Commander Cantt Board Brigadier and CEO CB of Abbottabad also joined and planted the tree. He ensured to continue their kind cooperation with Department of Environmental Sciences in particular at COMSATS University Abbottabad.
